Acason

Reem Ali Acason is a British–Bahraini artist based in southeast England whose practice explores memory, geographical transformation and heritage through the lens of archaeological fragmentation. She holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of Greenwich, an MA in Fine Art from the University of Brighton and is currently undertaking her PhD at the University of Brighton with a fully funded TC25 Award.

Working at the intersection of painting and installation, Reem uses materials and processes including oil painting on fabric, wax, sand, gypsum, and vintage objects. These materials are imbued with personal, social, and cultural meaning, allowing each work to act as an artefact or relic. Through juxtaposition and re-contextualisation, she seeks new means of understanding and a deeper relationship with her lived experience as a mixed-heritage British Bahraini.

Reem’s work has been exhibited widely in the UK and internationally including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the ING Discerning Eye in London, 35Blumen, Germany and ArtBab International Art Fair, Bahrain, and her work is held in private collections worldwide.
